As an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Keep Alachua County Beautiful believes that each of us holds an obligation to preserve and protect our environment. Through our everyday choices and actions, we collectively have a huge impact on our world. It's really a simple concept, but one with far reaching effects. Our mission is to beautify, conserve resources, recycle, educate and preserve our community's environmental legacy. This year, as Keep Alachua County Beautiful celebrates its 15th Anniversary, Keep America Beautiful celebrates its 57th Birthday. What started with a message and a post office box in New York City in 1953 has blossomed into an international movement with 600 affiliates and over 1,000 partners. |
Next project
The final scan for our Cigarette Litter Prevention Program has been completed. Watch for results at the end of September! We will be at the Alachua County Fairgrounds on Labor Day Weekend to promote recycling at The Big and Hearty Music and Arts Festival. Thanks to WASTE PRO for helping us in this effort! A portion of Big and Hearty's proceeds will be donated to Gulf Specimen Laboratories' NOAH'S ARC Project to assist in rehabilitating wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico. |
